program umbrellas / streams

Your topic should speak to the theme Adapt, Innovate, Collaborate, Deliver! This theme is all about achieving greater business agility to gain better business outcomes.

When submitting your proposal, remember the conference will have several sessions running simultaneously, so it's important to explain to delegates why they should pick yours.

Can you speak on one of these topics? Agile Australia 2012 is looking for speakers to fill sessions on:
» Adoption and Approaches
» Design and Build
» Leadership and Teams
» Project Management
» Product Management

meet the needs of our audience

We are looking for content that will appeal to:
» CIOs and Leaders
» Product Managers
» Project Managers
» Business Analysts
» Coaches
» Testers and Developers

When you submit a proposal you will be asked to indicate who would be best suited to hear your presentation. Submissions that are tailored to meet the needs of these job titles will receive preference.

Submissions which feature a real world example, such as a case study, will be given preference. The advisors will also favour proposals that include a second speaker, such as a client who can explain the implementation issues or other factors.

There are three types of proposals we are looking for: case studies, talk/lectures, and workshops.

» Case studies - 20 minute case study sessions, drawing on a real world experience or examples
» Talk/Lectures - A 45 minute oral presentation (which may draw on a case-study)
» Workshops - 90 minute interactive sessions, to be held on Tuesday 29 May 2012 (the day before the conference)

how will submissions be reviewed?

The Agile Australia community is encouraged to view, vote, and comment on proposals submitted via the Agile Australia website.

If you have submitted a proposal - please read the comments made by your peers. Reply to comments if you like - but to have a better chance of your proposal being accepted, the advisors would like to see your proposal changed to reflect feedback. You are able to submit or update your proposals prior to Tuesday 31 January 2012.

You are also encouraged give feedback on other people’s submissions, to help them make it a session you would want to attend. Are there points you would like clarified? Are the learning outcomes clear? Please add your questions and comments for the author of the proposal to address.

Proposals will also be reviewed by the Agile Australia 2012 conference advisors. Their reviewing criteria will include the following points:
» Evidence-based content (a real-world example)
» Depth
» New and innovative ideas
» Clear learning outcomes for delegates
» Good presentation skills, and
» A good fit with the conference theme - Adapt, Innovate, Collaborate, Deliver!

Most shortlisted speakers will be asked to take on the advice and guidance of a ‘shepherd’ before they are accepted onto the program. Your shepherd may discuss with you your draft outline, any examples you plan to use, and how you are planning to use the time allocated in your session. This is your opportunity to refine your presentation and ensure it is of a very high level.

Only after the shepherding process has been completed will the final program be announced.
